If it's on a shelf, it's on our forum

Shelved Lives (www.shelvedlives.com) is a site which aims to encompass mine and my co-workers life. This name was chosen as we noticed that everything we love is on our shelves. We range from writing articles on big issues to trying to be funny in front of a camera. This site includes (or will soon include): Reviews, Articles, Run-throughs of Comic books, Videos, as well as a few original ideas which we are trying out.

Of course this site is designed to promote a forum and guess what! We got one of them too. Although the main site is our shelved lives, we want you to come on and tell us about yours, discuss anything entertainment based: Film, T.V, Video Games, Books, Comic books, Music... or if you want to talk about something totally off topic there's a place to do that too!

Also, being a budding site we know how tough it is to drum up the first couple of hundred members in the community. If any of you want to do a post swap, please don't hesitate to ask! In fact, I encourage it!

Hope to see you on the site soon. www.shelvedlives.com There’s that link again in case you missed it the first time ;-)

The blog is a standard blog, which I do wish you luck with. The forum however, is a plain forum with the default template and WAY too many subjects. I would advise narrowing the forum down to 4-6 boards for now and then growing as you see/feel the need. Actually, you could probably just start with your category titles as board titles for now and then break them up as needed.

Example, just use:
Shelved Lives
Off Topic/Misc Discussions (or "General Discussions")
Comic Books
Film/Television
Music
Video Games
note: I would combine the above three into just an "Entertainment" using a description of "Film, Television, Movies, Music and Video Game Discussions" or something of that nature, and then break of sub categories when needed.

As it is, when people come to your site and see 25 boards with 0 posts, it will feel like it's either abandoned and leave, or they will feel like it's just not an interesting site and leave. If they see only a few boards, they will probably think it's just a new site... which it is :)
